This is a thing that happened, guys.

The whole thing was like the beginning of a cheesy ’80s gay porno, and god bless it for that. The original show certainly wasn’t shy when it came to gay content, from its crafting the fantastic character of Lafayette to giving the gays what they wanted with Alexander Skarsgard’s full frontal scene.

Stay tuned for more info on the True Blood reboot, which we can’t help but expect to have a ton of gay storylines!

5. Jason chugged it. TV history is being made, day in and day out, in ways big and small. As the seasons wore on, the show would lean on Skarsgard to bring that blend of sex and violence to basically all his other storylines, but you always remember your first, and the thrill that True Blood would go there was truly a memorable TV moment.

Inside True Blood’s Steamy Gay Sex Scene

Oh my god.

You saw it, right?

We recently had a chance to chat with Kwanten about shooting the scene, and how True Blood fans were going to flip for it. In a phenomenally memorable scene, Eric seduces Russell’s househusband Talbott, and then mid-coitus, takes out a stake and executes his enemy’s lover.

It’s a moment that is brutal, problematic, thrilling, and up until the moment it turns, wildly sexy.

The show lasted for seven seasons, full of vampires, werewolves, fairies, shape-shifters, ghosts, and killers, and creator Alan Ball seemed to have only one directive, and that was to turn everything up. Moments of greatness combined with moments of weakness; sex and violence that was legitimately stirring combined with sex and violence that was cartoonishly over-done; some really excellent acting in service of some incredibly frustrating characters.

You can go back to rewinding your TiVos to replay that scene over and over again now. It was a gay love scene. “Take a shot, you dumb shit fanger!”

While vampire Eric and werewolf Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello)  may have been puffing up their chests over a woman like immature boys, seeing these two leading men completely nude out in the wilderness left us all a little hot and bothered.

We see three guys sitting at a booth, mocking Lafayette, the diner’s openly gay cook. And a lot of trust. It was a love scene. Or when the entire town had a debaucherous orgy. — before, sadly, Jason wakes up … in church. No one can say this series didn’t have a sense of humor, and here’s hoping the True Blood reboot does, too.

7. Then he began stripping off his leather jacket and undid Eric’s belt.

There was that time Sookie and Bill did it on a grave. I needed space to think.” Jason: “How’s it workin’ out fer ya?”

After more innuendo-laden, sex-soaked back-and-forths, Eric poured a martini.
