The gay-ownedSandcastle on the Beach hotel is the queer destination for St. Croix. The building dates back to 1740. While attitudes towards the LGBTQ community may vary among different parts of the country and among different segments of the population, the vast majority of people in the Bahamas are accepting and respectful of LGBTQ individuals.
There are no laws in the Bahamas that specifically prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity, but the government has taken steps to protect the rights and safety of LGBTQ individuals.
