Phoebe Bridgers is reportedly dating comedian Bo Burnham.
Rumors that Phoebe was dating the comedian first surfaced in December 2022, when she was photographed kissing musician Matt Healy while Bo Burnham looked on.
In fact, quite rightly, Bridgers has been ambivalent about queer celebrities automatically being nominated as vanguards of the LGBTQIA community. “I care, but I’m not a scientist.”
And that’s exactly it.
By June 2022, Paul had starred in another one of Phoebe's music videos for the song "Sidelines," which she also explicitly said was about him.
Paparazzi didn’t capture the pair, but the restaurant confirmed that the pair spent a morning there in July 2020.
It turned out that Paul is a huge fan of Phoebe’s music, and the pair had flirted on social media. Aware that fans were eagerly waiting for the release of her second album, Punisher, Bridgers dropped it a day early alongside a list of racial justice organisations, encouraging people to listen and donate.
However, shortly after the meeting, Phoebe’s relationship ended. Bridgers referred to the actor as her ‘internet crush’ and said that she felt ‘a little pitter-patter’ in her heart when Paul followed her on Instagram. In February 2023, Paul told Vanity Fair he wouldn't address breakup rumors. Then, it reportedly turned emotionally abusive.
In 2019, Phoebe, along with several other women, came forward to The New York Times, claiming that Ryan was abusive and controlling.
It’s about a lot more than that. “I’ve been able to waltz through my life not seeing transphobia every day”, she acknowledged in another interview. Earlier that year, they teamed up to form the musical duo Better Oblivion Community Center, and released their first album of the same name. Phoebe told The Fader that her song “Motion Sickness” is about her relationship with Ryan.
The Los Angeles native is a member of the musical groups Boygenius, alongside Julien Baker and Lucy Daus, and Better Oblivion Center, alongside Conor Oberst.
In the background of his video, Phoebe is visibly kissing someone presumed to be Bo Burnham. As time went by though, he began to show a romantic interest in the rising star.
Eventually, Phoebe gave in, and the couple hooked up on Ryan’s 40th birthday. Relationship Timeline
