The authorities thus believe Andre and Fathead met while in prison. It was “all hands on deck” in the surrounding jurisdictions, said Adam Abate, assistant district attorney for the Fulton County D.A.

Investigators learned that the missing couple had met two years after she graduated high school.

When Reddick put the police on the line, “they got spooked,” said Looney.

Brooks was declared brain dead. Tips poured in, including one from James Wilson.

Andre Gay and Richard “Fathead” Wilson were indicted on multiple counts of murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and weapons charges.

Detectives called other numbers in E’s burner phone for possible leads, but were unsuccessful.

Andre Gay, 44, and Richard Wilson, 46, will plead guilty Monday morning in Fulton County Superior Court to the murders of Jeonta Brown and Briana
Brooks. Furthermore, Jeronta’s sister admitted he’d initially gotten away from the assailants but returned when he noticed his partner, the mother of his children, wasn’t with him.

In the hours that followed, the family received multiple calls for ransom, with the strange men demanding $150,000 for Briana and Jeronta’s release.

In October, Richard Wilson was arrested at a pawn shop in Alabama and brought to Atlanta. The elder couple told detectives they were woken up by what sounded like guns knocking on their door, following which Kawanw immediately called 911. They were identified as Brown and Brooks, who’d both been shot in the back of the head.

Suspects in brutal murders of couple sentenced to life in prison

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - A Fulton County Superior Court judge sentenced two men Monday to four consecutive life-in-prison sentences without parole, plus 60 years, for the execution-style shooting of a young man and his pregnant finance.

Judge Kimberly Adams handed down the sentences after 44-year-old Andre Gay and 45-year-old Richard Wilson pled guilty to the August 2014 murders.

Fulton County prosecutors described the case as something they had never seen before and called Gay and Wilson “career killers.”

The two men kidnapped 23-year-old Jeonta Brown and 21-year-old Briana Brooks from a relative's driveway in northwest Atlanta, and later shot them in the head and left them to die on the side of the road when their ransom demands were not met by the victims’ family.

Despite her wounds, Brooks was able to deliver her baby two months early before passing away.

During Monday’s sentencing, Judge Adams admonished Wilson who chuckled when asked by the court if he was willingly entering the guilty plea.

Judge Adams asked him, “Do you think there’s something funny here?”, and he replied no.

The judge told the pair she did not want to hear from them during the sentencing hearing.

Just after midnight on Aug. 30, 2014, prosecutors say Gay and Wilson kidnapped Brooks and Brown because they believed one of their relatives had recently received a significant amount of money from an insurance settlement.

Hours into the kidnapping the defendants called the victim's family members demanding ransom.

Eventually, the defendants drove the victims to a location in Northwest Atlanta where they shot Brown and Brooks in the back of the head and left them to die on the side of the road.

When Atlanta Police arrived, they found the couple handcuffed together with their hands behind their backs.

Investigation Discovery’s ‘The Night That Didn’t End: A Mother’s Love’ delves into this tragic case, wherein two men with violent pasts turned out to be responsible for the horrifying crime.

How Did Briana Brooks and Jeronta Brown Die?

Briana Brooks, a Florida native, was in a relationship with Jeronta Cleon Brown, a Georgia native, at the time of the incident.

She was seven months pregnant and her baby shower was scheduled for later in the day on August 30. The two have killed at least seven people in Fulton County. When Reddick handed the phone to police, the caller hung up.

“That was last time that there is any communication to the family from the victims or the kidnappers themselves,” said Brett Zimbrick, a former detective with the Atlanta Police Department.

Reddick had seen the assailants drive away in a light-colored van.

Cathy saw them from outside and tried to rush back home, but Andre fired through the door, hitting Michael in the head and Cathy in her leg.

Andre was also a suspect in the August 1990 murder of Kenneth Ellison.

They pleaded guilty to all charges and each received four consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.

The call from the blocked number the night of the murders was from a burner phone.

Investigators sorted through a week’s worth of calls.

Money emerged as a motive behind the crime, which took another devastating turn two days after the shooting. Eventually, the defendants drove the victims to a location in northwest Atlanta. The 7-month pregnant woman actually gave birth to their second daughter through C-section before being taken off life support on September 4, 2014.

Who Killed Briana Brooks and Jeronta Brown?

At the time of the incident, Briana and Jeronta had been living with the latter’s mother, Kawana Brown, and his stepfather, Calvin Riddick.

But Reddick’s stepson, Jeronta Brown, 23, and his pregnant fiancee, Briana Brooks, 21, had been abducted by the criminals.

The young couple had gone food shopping and returned home while the masked men were there, according to journalist Linda Looney.

As police interviewed Reddick, the assailants called him from a blocked phone number.

After all, he was found shot to death in an Atlanta neighborhood following a scuffle with Andre; some witnesses even outrightly claimed Andre was the shooter.

In addition, through gambling he had won $8,000 from David Bradshaw, who “was not happy” about that, according to Abate. Gay and Wilson kidnapped Brooks and Brown believing one of their relatives recently received a significant amount of money from an insurance settlement.

Hours into the kidnapping the defendants called the victim’s family members asking for ransom.
