It’s also fair to point out that some of the reactions seem to be tongue-in-cheek – as most Michael Myers and Halloween fans likely already know that the iconic character would kill anyone.

In recent days, however, a bit of the attention has drifted over to a number of articles arguably positing “homophobic” claims against the Myers character—who (SPOILER ALERT) kills a gay couple in the latest film—as being genuine and free-of-satire takes.

The characters in question, Big John (Scott MacArthur ) and Little John (Michael McDonald), are the present owners of the infamous Myers house in the movie and are (very) far from being the only people to meet their respective ends during 105-minute running time.

Myers murders them – in one of the least surprising moments in the movie (he’d kill anyone regardless of sexual orientation, especially someone living in his home).

It’s not the first time a horror character has been called homophobic.

Though minor characters, this couple was a rare bit of LGBTQ+ representation in the Halloween franchise, so folks weren’t pleased they were butchered. Put another way, this seems to be an example of reactions-based headlining backfiring spectacularly.
